Key Rules and Mechanics You Need to Know
Understanding Wordle Today mechanics prevents common mistakes and helps refine your daily approach.
1. Hard Mode
In standard mode, you can guess any valid five-letter word at any time to eliminate letters. However, Wordle offers a Hard Mode setting:
Any revealed hints (green or yellow letters) must be used in all subsequent guesses.
Hard Mode stops you from using "filler" words to eliminate remaining consonants, forcing a stricter tactical approach.
2. Duplicate Letters
Wordle does not explicitly tell you if a word contains duplicate letters. For example, if the secret word is KNOCK and you guess CLACK:
The first C will turn yellow or green depending on position.
The second C may turn gray if you've already accounted for all instances of 'C' in the answer, or yellow/green if it matches a second 'C'.
Always keep double letters (like ROBOT, SPEED, or GLASS) in mind when stuck.
